How Hotel Shreyas grew celebrations 3x with amealio
A Pune landmark since 1963 turned birthday bookings and anniversaries into a growth engine using amealio's celebration menu and Selfie Mirror.
Hotel Shreyas has served pure vegetarian meals in Pune since 1963. Three generations, one kitchen, and a guest list that includes families who have been coming since before the current dining room existed. When the team rolled out amealio, they did not start with technology. They started with one question: how do you turn every meal into a memory?
Within five months the numbers spoke for themselves. Celebration bookings tripled. Average order value moved from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,850. Repeat visits climbed 40 percent.
Where they started
Shreyas had the hardest asset in hospitality to build - trust - and the most common gap in Indian independent dining: no structured way to sell the celebrations already happening in the room.
Birthdays were being celebrated at their tables every week. The family would arrive with a cake in a box, ask the captain to keep it in the fridge, and improvise the rest. The restaurant carried the effort and captured none of the value.
Lever one: curated celebration packages
Birthdays, anniversaries and small family functions now start with a Rs 1,999 package that includes a four-course meal, cake, decoration, Selfie Mirror moments and a personalised greeting. Guests book in two minutes on the amealio app.
Three things made the package work:
- One price, clearly stated. The host knows the number before they call anyone.
- The decision count dropped to one. Previously an organiser made eight separate arrangements. Now they make one.
- It was published. The package sat on the restaurant's amealio profile, not in a captain's memory.
The package also lifted the floor on celebration spend. Tables that would previously have ordered a la carte and left now started at a defined per-head value.
Lever two: the Selfie Mirror
Placed at the entrance, the mirror invites every guest to strike a pose, tag @amealio.app and @hotelshreyas, and post on Instagram. In the first month the restaurant's Instagram reach grew 4x with zero paid promotion.
The mechanic is simple and it compounds. Every family that celebrates at Shreyas leaves with a photo they wanted anyway, and the restaurant appears in the feed of everyone who knows them. For a sixty-year-old vegetarian restaurant whose reputation had always travelled by word of mouth, this was word of mouth with a distribution channel attached.
Lever three: AI-powered upsells
When a guest adds a main course, amealio suggests high-margin desserts, mocktails and add-ons. The team saw a 50 percent jump in revenue per table.
The important detail is that the suggestions are contextual rather than generic. A family ordering a celebration thali sees a dessert platter for the table. A couple sees a mocktail pairing. Nobody sees a prompt for something the kitchen is out of.
What the team says
"amealio helped us increase our average bill by 45 percent and birthday bookings by 3x," says the Shreyas team.
These figures are from one amealio partner restaurant over five months and are not a projection for any other outlet.
What is transferable
Every lever here is available to any independent Indian restaurant:
- Package the celebration you already host. Price it per head, publish it, make it bookable in two minutes.
- Give guests a photo moment. They are taking photos anyway. Make them good ones and make them tagged.
- Let the ordering flow do the upselling rather than depending on a captain's memory during a busy service.
- Keep the guest data. The name, the date, the occasion. Next year's birthday booking is the cheapest one you will ever win.
